VLV Better With You

TGIF! Here in NZ at least :-) We have a long weekend to celebrate Queen's Birthday and I'm so glad, I need the extra time and help with bubs so I can get lots of baking done for his party next weekend!

I know I'm going to be fueled by a bit of coffee, so todays Viva la Verve card features my fave coffee set ever, Better With You.

You can find all the details about this challenge and how you can win $100 to spend on Verve goodies in the Viva la Verve forum.

I stamped the mug twice, paper piecing the main portion to match the papers used on my card. The sentiment and all the sponging is done with Kraft ink. I added some piercing for simple decoration.

Inside I used more of the paper and that awesome coffee stain image along with another sentiment.

Have a lovely weekend, I've got some posts scheduled for while I enjoy time with our family who are all flying in for the big first birthday bash! I'll see you back here "live" in the second week of June!

Stamps: Better With You (Verve StampsPaper: Indie Chic Nutmeg (MME) Ink: Hot Fudge, Kraft (MFT) Dies: Circle and Oval Nesties (Spellbinders) Other: Piercing Tool, Piercing Templates, Sponge Dauber, Pearls

Flowers Bloom

Hello! I've been extra busy lately preparing for our little guy's first birthday - it's come up so fast! I did have time for a little extra inky fun recently though, inspired by the Simon Says stamp and show challenge to use your favourite ink. I love distress inks, you can do so much with them, and I've used my current fave, Fired Brick on this card featuring Verve stamps.

I started with a ranger tag base, sponging on distress ink in yellow tones, before splattering with water, and over stamping one of the flowers from Surely Goodness. I embossed and added some sponging with walnut stain ink on the sides and distressed a little. I tore the top of the tag off, and liked it so much I decided to make it the top of the card, I like the drama! The focal flower is also from Surely Goodness and was coloured with distress markers. The sentiment is the Where Flowers Bloom PJ stamped on vellum cut with the Curvy Bookplate.

Inside I used some of the torn tag to add a little embossed interest, and stamped the flowers again. Love that fired brick ink!

Stamps: Surely Goodness, Where Flowers Bloom PJ (Verve StampsPaper: Choc Chip, Kraft (SU) Tag Ink: Scattered Straw, Fired Brick, Walnut Stain, Tea Dye Distress Ink (Ranger) Dies: A Cut Above Dies: Curvy Bookplate Die, Scalloped Trim Trio (Verve Stamps)Other: SU Ribbon, Jamara Embossing Folder, Pearl, Mini Clothespin, Hemp Twine

It's time for another fab MFT sketch! I'm sharing another Mother's Day card I made this year.

You can find all the info about this week's sketch and how you can win up to $20 to spend on MFT on the MFT Blog.

I used the gorgeous Dandelion Wishes stamp set and created some fun flowers in red and pink. I used Berrylicious ink and the Distressed Background Blocks stamps for my background paper. The sentiment is from Sweet Roses.

I also stamped a matching envelope. It only takes a minute and adds so much to a special card.

Inside I couldn't resist stamping the gorgeous image again!

Creative Challenge - May Flowers

The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.

This month, April Showers bring May Flowers!  Look forward to an assortment of flower-filled creations from today's participating designers.  Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have a project to share with you today.

I wanted to try pairing some mixed media products/techniques with clean and simple design - I had fun making my two cards for today!

Both my cards today feature the Mini Chicken Wire stencil and luscious MFT Felt. I combined some modelling paste with Making Memories paint in Cornflower Blue and spread it over the stencil with a spatula. I let these pieces dry overnight.

This card features the new Cheerful Blessings stamp set. I masked off the sentiments so I could stamp in two colours. This flower is the awesome Sunflower Die-namics.

Inside the card I have sponged over the stencil with Berrylicious ink and stamped a second sentiment.

My second card features the bold Western Sentiments stamp set.

For this card I covered an entire panel with the modelling paste. I love the hint of pink showing through. The sentiment was stamped on the circle from Blueprints 3. I went back to basics for this card, using some of the very first flower Die-namics ever, the Rolled Flower and Mini Rolled Roses. I finished the card with some pearls.

Inside the card I've stenciled the pattern again, I just love being able to decide exactly where the sponging will allow the pattern to show.

Don't forget to stop by the MFT Blog for all the flowery goodness the DT have to share today!

Here are the wonderful My Favorite Things goodies I've used today:

CAS 221 Strong Anchor

I'm happy to be playing along with this week's Clean and Simple challenge at Splitcoast Stampers as guest designer.

This week the challenge is a theme - that smells great!

I've used some new and old Verve to answer the theme with sea air - one of my favourite smells!

Strong Anchor is part of the FAB new Verve release. I used nestabilites to emboss my card, and stamped the rope circle inside the embossed circle. I added a cute little wheel above the sentiment. The anchor is from the Nautical Die Set, I punched a hole in the top and threaded through some twisted hemp twine.

I wanted some detail on my base card so I used the large background from Artful Elegance and heat embossed it in clear.

Here's the inside of my card...

I just love that gorgeous sentiment!

I hope you'll play along with the CAS challenge this week, I'd love to see your take on great smells!
